Whether you are just starting
to learn the game or have
been bowling your entire life,
please read on...
It is natural for beginners to
understand that a coach can help
them improve their game faster than
if they simply tried to improve on
their own. What's less obvious to an
experienced bowler is how some
instruction can improve their game.
Some bowlers let their egos get in
the way. After all, they've
been bowling for 20 years; what's a
bowling coach going to tell me that
I don't already know?
In most cases, plenty. Unless
you are carrying a 200+ average in
your weekly league, you've got some
room to improve your game. Some of
the most well-known PBA
professionals have a coach they work
with regularly. It is also
common for a PBA professional to
have their coach back stage
at tournaments for tips and
monitoring. If they have
elements of their game that need
improvement, so do you...
Bowling instruction can take several
forms: 1 on 1 lessons with a
certified instructor, group lessons,
video, books and so on. What you
choose to do and how you do it
depends on how serious you are and
your ability to commit time and
money.
For
most bowlers, a combination of
training techniques should be
considered. Everyone learns at a
different pace and better by some
methods than others. You may be able
to read and pick up some
valuable tips that will help you
immediately. Others need that
personal touch to have the
instruction make sense.
In any case, once you've had the
benefit of some qualified
instruction, practicing what you've
learned is critical to your success.
Old habits die hard, and the way to
build new, better habits is through
practice.
